Condoms

Sex is the most intimate and exhilarating activity two people can share, so you shouldn’t have to worry about anything while you are enjoying yourselves. Created to erase all the worries, condoms have been very successful at preventing unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases for decades. In fact, when used correctly, condom effectiveness is as high as 98%.

Our bodies are all different, though, so one condom really doesn’t “fit” all. We are different sizes and shapes and we have different preferences or requirements too. Having peace of mind is important, but so is comfort, especially when engaging in such a pleasurable activity. Plus, if a condom doesn’t fit properly, it won’t be as effective.

Fortunately, condoms have evolved significantly over time so now there really is a condom that is perfect for each and every one of us. Well-endowed men will want to try our selection of Magnum condoms, which features both large and extra-large condoms. We also offer condom sizes for guys who are a bit on the smaller side. These are often referred to as Snugger Fit. For people who are sensitive to latex condoms we carry non-latex condoms.

Large Size Non Latex Condoms Protect Against Allergic Reactions

My co-worker seems to be allergic to everything on the planet: corn, eggplant, flour… Smells bother her too. Granted, another co-worker’s cologne lingers long after he’s gone, but you get the idea. She’s extreme when it comes to allergies, but it does seem like more and more people are suffering from a variety of odd allergies for no known reason. Can you imagine my co-worker trying to practice safe sex with all her allergies? (Not that I want to imagine her having sex). Fortunately, there are options for people with latex allergies, unless you are a well-endowed man.

Until recently, there were no large non latex condoms, but thankfully, LifeStyles has just come out with the first. It’s about time. LifeStyles SKYN Large Condoms are made of premium polyisoprene, a newer material which is completely free of latex. People who get itchy or break out in a rash at the mere touch of latex can finally rejoice and fornicate while still protecting themselves against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. What’s even better is LifeStyles’ SKYN line of prophylactics boasts the slogan “the closest thing to wearing nothing”. The claim is valid since these large latex free condoms come with a smooth lubricant which lasts a long time while also improving the sexual experience.

LifeStyles SKYN Large Condoms are really thin so they provide a super natural feel while still being just as strong and just as safe as their latex counterparts. Each condom is individually and electronically tested so you can hump responsibly and assured that you are protected with a reliable rubber. Always remember that to ensure maximum protection you must make sure to properly use condoms every time you engage in sexual activity.

You may be wondering why large non latex condom sizes took so long to come to market when more and more people have allergies and there definitely are guys out there who are bigger than average. I can’t tell you but I am sure that many men who are packing large packages are thankful that their peckers won’t be breaking out any more.

Hustler Video Cited For Not Using Condoms During Productions

Workplace safety officials fined Larry Flynt's Hustler Video and another adult-entertainment company Wednesday for not using condoms during productions.

California’s Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health issued multiple workplace violations against the porn producer Wednesday saying they failed to provide protective equipment to sex performers.
The company faces also a $14,175 fine. Forsaken Pictures also faces $12,150 in fines.

“Larry Flynt and his LFP Video Group join the ranks of a growing list of adult film producers and distributors cited by Cal/OSHA for failing to properly follow workplace safety regulations on their adult film sets with regard to condom use and other safety precautions,” said Michael Weinstein, President of AHF.

The citation came as a result of complaints filed by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation as part of an ongoing campaign to require the use of condoms in film shoots. The move would greatly reduce the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.

Last year the industry was temporarily put on pause after a porn star tested positive for HIV.

Ben Affleck's condom shame

Ben Affleck's embarrassing first experience buying condoms as a teenager has been revealed in a sex book written by his friend Matt Damon's former step-mother.

The actor/director contributed a story to a 1990 teen sex guide called Risky Times: How to be AIDS Smart and Stay Healthy written by Jeanne Blake, who was formerly married to Damon's father Kent.

The book, which is now out of print, resurfaced during Damon's recent appearance on Jay Leno's U.S. talk show, with the actor telling the host, "Yes, that's Ben. And all the sex he wasn't getting... There's some good dirt on Ben in there, I'm sure."

Affleck's story about buying condoms from a pharmacy has now surfaced online along with a picture of the actor as a teenager.

The star, who was 18 years old at the time of the encounter, recalled, "I was so scared. I wondered: 'Are they going to call my mom?' I went into the store, walked up to the shelf and grabbed the box. I didn't stand there looking too long. There were two registers. A man was at one, a woman at another. Of course, the woman's register came up first. I felt so self-conscious and idiotic, but it was all over in a second. I put them down and she looked at me with this stoic face and rang them up and put them in a bag, and I ran out of that store really fast!"

Another quote from Affleck reads, "There are so many things I want to do in my life. I want to be given the chance to become someone. I want to see how the story ends."

Euphoric Pleasure with Trojan’s Vibrating Tri-Phoria Intimate Massager

On the heels of the very well received Vibrating Touch fingertip massager and Vibrating Mini, Trojan has just released yet another personal massager-- the Trojan Vibrations Vibrating Tri-Phoria Intimate Massager-- to its pleasure-producing product line, Trojan Vibrations, which so includes vibrating rings. This new little gem is sure to become a fast favorite thanks to a multitude of available, and desirable, speed and pulse pattern choices.

Turn Up the Pleasure—Slow or Fast, You Decide
Unlike the old tale where the turtle wins the race for being slow, we know that sometimes slow does the trick but fast is fantastic, too. Say good-bye to the typical Slow, Medium and Fast tempos… The Tri-Phoria has an incredible five speeds to choose from to accommodate all pleasure seekers. Start off slow, steadily increase, hit the height of delight then gradually slow down as you cum. You’ll be writhing in pleasure. Promise.

Control Your Pleasure with Three Pulse Patterns
The uniqueness of Trojan’s Vibrating Tri-phoria doesn’t stop with its speed settings. This vibrating personal massager has three interchangeable tips that allow you to select and control the type of sensations that will make you explode. Amazingly, Trojan has found a way to simulate three of the most tantalizing arousal methods: gentle and focused stimulation, firm pressure, and tongue-like flickering. Who would have thought that a special tip could actually imitate the actions of a well-adept tongue?

The domed or “gentle” tip and the “flickering” tip are both made out of a soft silicone gel that’s soft to the touch while the hard tip was designed to ensure “firm” stimulation when you need it most. The combination of these three pulse patterns along with the five speeds will give you all the sensual options you need for maximum erotic fun.

In case you are wondering, the Vibrating Tri-Phoria’s interchangeable tips are fast to swap out so if you need a different type of sensation, just change the tip in a flash. Of course, it’s best to keep the tips close by so you just have to grab and switch.

It’s Reusable and Discreet
As with all of the products in the Trojan Vibrations line, the Vibrating Tri-Phoria can be used over and over and over because it’s waterproof and easy to clean plus there are no special batteries required. The Vibrating Tri-Phoria is powered by an AA battery so once you run out of juice, all you have to do is run to the convenience store and pick up a new battery for more thrills in a jiff.

Trojan’s Vibrating Tri-Phoria comes with an elegant satin pouch so you can keep it discreetly just about anywhere: in your purse, in your jeans pocket, under your pillow…

Let’s face it, when you are enjoying an intimate moment, either on your own or with your sexy partner, visual stimulation definitely comes into play. Most of us probably wouldn’t want a neon-colored dildo with polka dots. The size (not too big and not too small) and color (a non-obnoxious lovely lavender) make the Tri-Phoria perfect to use when you are alone or with your partner for a little added stimulation.

Trojan certainly knew what they were doing, and knew what we wanted, when they designed the Trojan Vibrations Vibrating Tri-Phoria. The five speeds and three types of pulsating sensations provide endless combinations of pleasure for you. Use a variety or find the combo that works for you every time. Tri-Phoria will quickly become your go-to personal massager.

Trojan Vibrating Tri-Phoria is like 3 Vibrators in One

Trojan has created a full line of pleasure-generating devices—Trojan Vibrations—consisting of fingertip massagers and other small vibrators, personal massagers and vibrating rings which stimulate and satisfy to enhance intimate moments when you are on your own or with your partner. The Trojan Vibrating Tri-Phoria is the newest product in this sensuous series.

What Makes the Tri-Phoria Different?
The Trojan Vibrations Vibrating Tri-Phoria is a small vibrator, or personal massager if you will, but with a big difference. This device has eight settings, five for speed and three for distinct pulsating patterns, which, when combined, create seemingly endless possibilities for customizable personal pleasure. And with three interchangeable tips, it’s sort of like having three vibrators in one. The three pulse patterns include: gentle and focused stimulation, firm pressure, and tongue-like flickering. You select which pulse pattern suits your mood then increase or decrease the speed to your personal preference. The interchangeable tips are easy to switch so you can enjoy a different sensation in a moment depending on your arousal level.

With so many options available to you, you may need to test out several combinations to find one or more that work best for you. Some people like variety while others find one tried-and-true setting and use it every time.

Paired Up or Flying Solo
Whether you are paired up for passion or acting solo, Trojan’s Vibrating Tri-Phoria will enhance your sex life. The gentle and “flickering” tips are made of a silicone gel that is soft to the touch and feels good on your most intimate areas. Explore your entire body to discover unexpected pleasure zones, and use the Tri-Phoria during foreplay to get the night sizzling for you both. The size of this device is also just right as it is not too large to be cumbersome or a distraction.

A Few Basics of the Trojan Vibrating Tri-Phoria
If you are going to use extra lubricant when playing with Trojan Triphoria, make sure the lubricant is water-based. The Vibrating Tri-Phoria is waterproof, easy to clean and is powered by an AA battery, making it easy to reuse. To ensure it’s ready whenever you want it next, remember to always wash your Tri-Phoria after every use. Use warm running water and soap then dry thoroughly before placing the vibrator in its storage pouch. This and other vibrators and personal massagers from Trojan are not dishwasher safe. Consult the literature that comes in the product box for more information.

Trojan, a Name You Can Trust for More than Just Condoms
Trojan didn’t become synonymous with sex just because they make great condoms and have become American’s #1 Condom manufacturer, Trojan also promotes sexual well-being. A huge element of sexual well-being is practicing safe sex, and Trojan certainly encourages this by dominating the market with a multitude of condom styles and sizes. Now with the Trojan Vibrations line, Trojan is helping people have great sex whether solo or coupled up by designing devices that stimulate and ignite passion.

Northwestern University defends after-class live sex demonstration

More than 100 Northwestern University students watched as a naked 25-year-old woman was penetrated by a sex toy wielded by her fiancee during an after-class session of the school’s popular “Human Sexuality” class.

The woman said she showed up at the Feb. 21 lecture in the Ryan Family Auditorium in Evanston expecting just to answer questions, but was game to demonstrate. The course’s professor on Wednesday acknowledged some initial hesitation, but said student feedback was “uniformly positive.”

And Northwestern defended the class and its professor.

“Northwestern University faculty members engage in teaching and research on a wide variety of topics, some of them controversial and at the leading edge of their respective disciplines,” said Alan K. Cubbage, vice president for University Relations. “The University supports the efforts of its faculty to further the advancement of knowledge.”

The optional, non-credit demo followed psychology Prof. John Michael Bailey’s sexuality class. Nearly 600 students are in Bailey’s class this quarter, and most didn’t stick around for the after-class show, which featured four members of Chicago’s fetish community describing “BDSM,” or bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism.

“I didn’t expect to see a live sex show,” said Justin Smith, 21, a senior economics and political science major who was in the after-class session. “We were told we were going to have some people talk to us about the fetish world and kink.”

Smith said it took him awhile to process what happened, but he doesn’t object to the way the material was presented.

“It was for me academic like everything else,” he said.

He told his grandparents about the class.

“My grandma was like, wow, Northwestern is a little bit different then when I went there,” he said.

In a statement, Bailey said he hesitated briefly before allowing the public sex act.

“My hesitation concerned the likelihood that many people would find this inappropriate,” he wrote. “My decision to say ‘yes’ reflected my inability to come up with a legitimate reason why students should not be able to watch such a demonstration.”

After the demonstration, several students tried a different sex toy that gave a “titillating” but not painful shock, testing it out on their arms, said Ken Melvoin-Berg, who narrated the after-class lecture. Melvoin-Berg said the school paid him between $300 to $500 for his appearance.

Faith Kroll, the woman who stripped, was laying down on a towel when she was penetrated. When she arrived, she thought she just would be answering students’ questions and showing off sex toys they brought, including whips, paddles and a clown wig.

An “absurd, clinical” video and subsequent discussion about various aspects of female orgasm led Faith and her partner Jim Marcus, 45, to prove to the class that female orgasm is real.

Faith said she was not coerced in any way and students were repeatedly warned it was going to get graphic.

“One of the students asked what my specific fetish was and mine is being in front of people, having the attention and being used,” she said. “The students seemed really intrigued.”

In his statement, Bailey said student feedback was “uniformly positive.”

Marcus, a musician who said he has worked as a sex educator, said he thinks it is “smart and important” for students to be learn about sexuality.

“It’s really scary for young people who want to get involved in the BDSM community who don’t understand issues regarding consent and safety,” he said.

Melvoin-Berg said he met Prof. Bailey through a swinging couple who previously spoke to the class. Melvoin-Berg runs the “Weird Chicago Red Light District Sex Tour,” which has participants playing games like “spot the ho” as they travel the city looking for prostitutes. He also teaches “Networking for Kinky People,” a 3-hour version of the one hour lecture he gave at Northwestern.

Melvoin-Berg said the sex toy used was BDSM, but was “not like a pain thing...we wanted to make it poignant.”

“I did mention this was going to be the best money their parents had spent on their education,” he said.

Bill Yarber, a researcher at Indiana University’s Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction and author of the textbook Human Sexuality: Diversity in Contemporary America, said he’s never heard of a naked woman being brought to orgasm in front of a class of students.

“The way you present it there is very unconventional,” he said. “There’s certain boundaries of things, I think, that are acceptable and that would certainly be pushing that.”

This isn’t Bailey’s first brush with controversy. His 2003 book, “The Man Who Would Be Queen,” sparked hostile debate in the transgender community by claiming that there were more reasons for men to become women then simply that biology trapped them in the wrong body. Several transgender women who spoke with Bailey claimed they did not consent to being used for research and accused him of practicing psychology without a license.

Bailey said in his statement Wednesday that during the Feb. 21 after-class lecture, “I was not in a mood to surrender to sex negativity and fear.”

“Do I have any regrets?” he wrote on Wednesday. “It is mostly too early to say. I certainly have no regrets concerning Northwestern students, who have demonstrated that they are open-minded grown ups rather than fragile children.”

89 million condoms to be given out at Brazil's Carnival

Brazil's health ministry is planning to give away 89 million free condoms during the Rio Carnival, which gets underway with street parties Friday. That's according to local press reports that have been picked up by outlets including The Korea Times. The number is 26 million more than were handed out last year.

The reason: an estimated 630,000 Brazilians are infected with the AIDs virus and young people are most likely to contract AIDS, Brazil health officials have said.

If you prefer to keep at arm's length or have dreamed of attending Carnival in Brazil but have yet to make the trip, click on youtube.com/carnaval.

Today through Tuesday, you can see the sights and hear the sounds of samba in the streets of Salvador, Bahia — a Brazilian city that rivals Rio for its raucous pre-Lent celebrations.

The Carnival Channel will have live feeds allowing viewers to watch dancers, popular bands and artists throughout the six-day festival.

Los Angeles Officials Consider Mandatory Condom Use for City-Permitted Porn Shoots

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation on Monday hailed the City Council's recent vote to have the L.A. City Attorney's office to look into whether the condom requirement would be feasible. If the lawyers give it a green light, the rule could get a vote next month.

Michael Weinstein, president of the AHF, said: "We commend Councilmember Rosendahl and the entire City Council for their unanimous vote in favor of this legal study to explore making adult film permits conditional on the use of condoms in adult films. Under existing California law, condoms are already required in the production of adult films, yet the industry remains convinced it is above the law. This City Council action is a step toward better enforcement and oversight to safeguard the health and safety of adult film workers. Tying condom use to adult-film production permits is absolutely the responsible thing to do, protecting adult film industry performers who--under the current system of testing--are routinely asked to risk their lives and health in order to continue working."

AHF has been battling the industry over condom use, filing complaints with the state over porn-makers, such as Vivid Entertainment and Hustler, and imploring California officials to enforce workplace safety laws that seem to require condoms on-set.

The state has admitted condoms are required by says it doesn't have the resources to enforce the rule.

Industry leaders have said if condoms are strictly enforced production will go out-of-state and underground, where conditions will be even less safe for performers.

Much of the nation's video porn is shot in the San Fernando Valley, within city limits.

Westside Councilman Bill Rosendahl, who has noted that his longtime partner died from AIDS-related complications years ago, introduced the motion to tie permitting to mandatory condom use.

Love, American style

It is the age of invincibility: adolescence, when the thrill of the moment is unperturbed by the consequences of the future.

Except, maybe, when it comes to sex. Two recent studies — one, a national survey; the other, a report from Boston health trackers — found widespread use of condoms among the nearly one-third of adolescents who had intercourse, belying the portrayals of wanton recklessness that are the coin of the cable realm.

This is a generation whose entire lifetime has been framed by the presence of the AIDS virus. So, some sex researchers aver, teens today are keenly aware of the importance of condoms (although there’s also evidence that certain sexually transmitted diseases are rising among youths, complicating the analysis).

And, it turns out, they might have a thing or two they could teach their parents or grandparents. The same national survey found that adults in their 40s, 50s, and 60s who were still playing on the field of love — they described their intimates as “casual partners’’ as opposed to “relationship partners’’ — used protection at substantially lower levels than youngsters.

Maybe they should listen to Anastasia Walker, a take-no-prisoners 17-year-old who starred a couple of years back in an online video touting the virtues of safe sex.

“A lot of people know someone who got something on the down low,’’ said Walker, a junior at TechBoston Academy. “So you’re like, ‘Wow, I don’t want to be like that.’ So I know a lot of teenagers who always do use condoms.’’

The countrywide data documenting condom use — the participants spanned the ages, as young as 14, as old as 94 — are part of a series of studies depicting love, American style, circa the 21st century. The lead authors of the research, published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, are the intellectual progeny of Alfred Kinsey, the bow-tied biologist who began his academic life studying wasps and concluded it exploring the sexual proclivities of humans.

The National Survey of Sexual Health and Behavior, underwritten by the maker of Trojan brand condoms, depicts the vibrant, varied sexual life of Americans — and its durability, even deep into life, with people in their 70s and beyond craving physical connection.

“The easiest thing you could conclude from this is that sex is practiced at all ages, from very young to very, very old,’’ said Dr. Irwin Goldstein, director of San Diego Sexual Medicine, who was not involved in the study. “It’s a reality of human life at all levels, at all times of life.

“As I personally start to age and get into my 60s,’’ he said, “it’s nice to see they have data showing sex is widely practiced in both men and women at older ages.’’

It is the findings about condom use that sparked the most interest among researchers in human sexuality — both because they suggest what’s working and what more needs to be done.

Condom use among adolescents has been rising in recent years, and the rates reported in the national study from researchers at Indiana University — they surveyed nearly 6,000 adults and adolescents — stand as some of the highest ever recorded.

About 79 percent of sexually active males between 14 and 17 said they used condoms during their most recent sexual encounter; that compares with 65 percent of 15- to 19-year-olds in a 2001 federal study.

A Boston Public Health Commission study reported similar patterns: Among sexually active Boston high school students, 73 percent said they used protection during their most recent sex act.

And just last week, a federal health agency reported that the nation’s teen birth rate had fallen to a historic low — another potential piece of evidence that adolescents are using protection.

“We often as a country make the assumption that adolescents are sort of being risky and irresponsible and promiscuous,’’ said a leader of the national survey on sexuality, Michael Reece, director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion at Indiana University. “To be at a point where adolescents are using condoms at a high rate, that’s a monumental change in how we think about sexuality.’’

It would be incorrect, though, to conclude that the majority of adolescents are having sex with abandon. In fact, the study found that not even a third of adolescents had engaged in intercourse by the time they reached 17.

Still, those findings emerge at a time when disease detectives are sounding alarms about rising diagnoses of chlamydia, among the most common sexually transmitted diseases. In Boston, for example, teen chlamydia cases climbed 70 percent from 1999 to 2008, with about 24 cases per 1,000 youths.

Further complicating the story, it’s unclear how much of that increase is actually attributable to improved testing techniques and expanded screening campaigns for a disease that often lingers silently before, in rare cases, causing infertility.

Cindy Engler, director of child and adolescent health services at Boston’s health agency, said it’s clear to her that some students may hear the admonishments to use condoms but fail to do so. What’s less clear, she said, is why. One possible reason: “When you’re talking about adolescents,’’ Engler said, “it’s a lot more challenging to negotiate with your partner about the use of a condom.’’

Walker, the Boston teen, said that while condom use appears to be standard practice among her peers, she suspects some youths shade the truth when answering surveys.

“I do know people who lie about using a condom so they won’t be embarrassed,’’ she said, “and so that people won’t look at them like they’re nasty.’’

There’s no denying this: Condom use plummets as adolescence fades into young adulthood. The national study found that 18- to 24-year-old men who engaged in casual encounters were about half as likely to use condoms as adolescent males. The authors of the study called for reinvigorated education measures emphasizing the importance of protection as youths enter adulthood — and beyond.

By the time people reach their 50s, protection practices decline even further, with both men and women who are in casual relationships reporting they use condoms far less than one-third of the time.

That should serve as a cautionary tale, said Kevin Fenton, director of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention branch that oversees efforts to slow sexually transmitted infections, known as STIs. “Although the majority of STIs and HIV are seen in individuals under age 40,’’ Fenton said, “increasingly we’re seeing STI and HIV among older populations.’’

Persuading the middle-aged to discuss their sexual practices — and even be tested for infections — proves daunting, said another author of the national study, Debby Herbenick.

“For many people in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and beyond, the idea of asking about STI testing may make you feel like you’ve done something wrong or you’ve been promiscuous or that people will think you picked a partner who’s been unfaithful to you — all that shame and stigma,’’ Herbenick said.

In his practice at Boston Medical Center, certified sex therapist Stanley Ducharme sees patients from 18 to 80. To his older patients, condoms are a latex method to prevent pregnancy, not stanch infectious diseases.

“Whether they’re a widower or divorced, I don’t think they see the importance or the necessity of using a condom,’’ Ducharme said. “So I think we could say young people have something to teach in terms of protecting themselves.’’
